We are excited that you’re exploring the Hunter College Campus Schools as a possible educational home for your child. Hunter College Elementary School (HCES) is the kindergarten through sixth grade program, where Hunter College High School (HCHS) serves grades 7-12. These are the laboratory schools of the City University of New York and, together, they are known as the Hunter College Campus Schools. Our schools are not affiliated with the New York City Department of Education, though they are publicy-funded (tuition free).
Each school has one application point: Kindergarten is the application point for the Elementary School and 7th grade is the application point for the High School.
Hunter College Elementary School and Hunter College High School serve a diverse population of children who have been identified as intellectually talented. The curriculum at each school is characterized by high expectations and designed to facilitate the development of a student’s intellectual, critical and creative thinking skills.
In these pages, you will discover everything you need to know about applying to each of our schools. We encourage you to explore the individual HCES and HCHS pages to better understand the wealth of opportunities available at our schools.
Admission to our schools is competitive and highly-selective, and the process is designed to identify students who will be successful in our program. Still, we encourage you to submit an application and give your child the opportunity to compete for a seat in one of our schools.
Wishing your family the best of luck in its school search process!
