In honor of Black History Month: Book Talk on Biography of HS Alumna AUDRE LORDE
On Tues, 2/11, students were invited to a conversation about the new biography of HS Alumna, Audre Lorde ('51), Survival is a Promise: The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde, by Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs.
The conversation was moderated by HCHS alumna, Dr. Mecca Jamilah Sullivan ('99), our 2023 Convocation speaker who shared her book, Big Girl with the HS students.
Dr. Gumbs and Dr. Sullivan later spoke at Hunter College's Roosevelt House which was attended by several of Audre Lorde's friends who had provided Dr. Gumbs with material for the book.
