HCES joins the NSCF celebration of founder Sunil Weeramantry

On March 11th, the National Scholastic Chess Foundation honored FIDE Master and NSCR Founder, Sunil Weeramantry for his vision and the impact of his career.  In his honor, NSCF established a legacy fund to support chess programs for underserved youth.  You can read more about Sunil's remarkable legacy in the world of chess here: https://nscfchess.org/founding-director-sunil-weeramantry/

For the past forty-five years, thousands of Hunter College Elementary School students have been the beneficiary of Sunil's educational vision and his passion for chess.  As an educator, competitor, author and coach, Sunil has brought the transformative power of chess to HCES children and has shaped the Hunter College Elementary School community.  

We join NSCF in acknowledging Sunil's extraordinary impact on our students, on the Campus Schools and on the greater world.  We are so grateful to be a part of his legacy.  Congratulations Sunil!
