HCCS students work with Assembly Member Bores and State Senator Kruger to protect the Greys

On May 7th, HCCS students Solomon R. ('24) , Lucas A. ('26), members of the historic Knickerbocker Greys youth cadet corp founded in 1881, traveled to Albany to present the Colors on the floors of the NY State Senate & Assembly in Albany, tour the Capitol and participate in legislative committee meetings as guests of NY State Senator Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Alex Bores.

The Greys have been working with Assembly Member Bores to draft, present and revise a bill to protect the institution and its traditional home in the Park Ave Armory;  Bill A7686  HCES student Emily C ('32) is a member of this venerable corp as well.

While in Albany, they met with the bill’s Committee Chair, performed a color guard on the Assembly floor, were introduced on the Senate floor by Senator Krueger, met with their other sponsor Senator Serrano, and Assembly members Reyes, Cleare & Gibbs, toured the Capitol, met the 40-year Assembly Sergeant-at-Arms Wayne Jackson and had lunch with AM Bores on the Concourse.

This week, the Greys are sending notes to the NY Representatives to support the bill, you can lend your support here: https://win.newmode.net/knickerbockergreysafterschoolprogram
